I can still remember being little and having these guys walk through our neighborhood hollering “strawberries, strawberries”. I swear our dogs could hear them miles away before we could. It was a great way for my mom to get some fresh fruit, or we’d go and pick strawberries at various locations, so she could make strawberry jam. Now instead of picking strawberries, I just run up the road to Amish Country and buy them already picked. It saves on my back bending over constantly, and I’m supporting an Amish family buying their produce.
This week’s Tasty Tuesday recipe is for a fresh strawberry pie. It’s so yummy that my hubby ate two pieces last night for dessert. And he piled on the whipped cream too. Our neighbors were very happy when I delivered one to them on Sunday afternoon. She couldn’t wait to eat that for dessert later.
Just the smell of the gel cooking for this is enough to send your taste buds watering. And the waiting for the pie to set up is a killer.
So if you have an abundance of strawberries in your own garden or even pick some up at the store or a produce stand, this is the recipe for you. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Can you just eat one piece???? 🙂
