Welcome to this week’s Tasty Tuesday. Last night’s dinner consisted of this meat loaf found in the “Tasty Traditions – Huber Family Favorites” cookbook. I have reviewed a few different meat loaf recipes here on my blog, and I have to say this has to be one of the best we’ve tried. It was super moist and delicious.
Here’s the recipe if you’d like to make either a meat loaf or meat balls as part of your dinner…
Meat Loaf or Meat Balls, Julianne H. Huber, page 91, “Tasty Traditions – Huber Family Favorites”
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 c. milk
1/4 c. ketchup
1 3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. mustard
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Mix all ingredients and shape into a loaf or balls. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or more. (I do another portion of ketchup, salt, pepper, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Add 1 cup water; pour over meat balls.) Squirt ketchup over loaf 10 minutes before done.
The only item I changed was I used ground turkey instead of beef. And using the non-stick aluminum foil in the dish makes clean up a breeze. No scrubbing with a SOS pad to get the dish clean.
Next week’s recipe will be for the yummy cranberry orange bread that accompanied the meat loaf.
Have a great last day of April. Hard to believe that May starts tomorrow.
